Back to the Future 40th Anniversary in D-BOX | In Theaters October 31, 2025

While looking for upcoming releases the other night, I saw that Back to the Future 40th Anniversary is being released in theaters on October 31, 2025. My first thought: “Is it in D-BOX?”. I quickly checked local theaters and saw it was coming to Megaplex Theatres as a $5 Mega Deal! Unfortunately, Megaplex Theatres is not showing it in D-BOX here in Utah. 😕 I then quickly checked Cinemark Theatres and, hallelujah, they have it playing in D-BOX with early screenings on October 30, 2025 in both Salt Lake City and West Jordan. The official release date is October 31, 2025.

I looked for Back to the Future 40th Anniversary in 3D in addition to D-BOX but couldn’t find it in 3D + D-BOX at any theaters in Utah. 😔 Cinemark, if the cut exists, and you’re reading this, please show this in 3D + D-BOX. 🙏

As a kid, I vividly remember my experience at Universal Studios on the Back to the Future Ride. I wish I could experience it again. They replaced it with The Simpsons Ride some time ago, which is a fun ride for sure, but the Back to the Future Ride will always have a special place in my heart.

I’m hoping this 40th Anniversary release of Back to the Future in D-BOX takes me back to my childhood. I’ll miss seeing it in 3D, but at least it’s playing in D-BOX, and honestly, that’s the reason I’m going. It’s not always easy to make it to the theater, so D-BOX is my motivator. The motion, the immersion, the way it pulls you into the story, it makes the effort worth it almost every single time. A larger screen is nowhere near as much of a pull as is D-BOX.

I’m hopeful that it’ll be an amazing experience. If what I experienced with the 25th Anniversary of The Matrix in D-BOX last year is anything to go by, the Back to the Future in D-BOX will be absolutely worth it. @D-BOX, please continue enhancing and re-releasing these iconic movies in theaters.
